Tasmania has played a considerable role in the development of Australia’s aviation industry, but the built heritage of this industry in Tasmania has been largely overlooked in recent years.
The exhibition outlines the development of Tasmania’s aviation history, and surveys Tasmania’s rich aviation heritage. This touring exhibition project is part of the National Trust’s Community Heritage Program.
It will be available for viewing from Thursday 3 July until Thursday 31 July in Hobart at the Penitentiary Chapel Historic Site on the corner of Brisbane and Campbell Streets. It will then be displayed at various other venues throughout the state (details to follow).
Open hours for the Penitentiary Chapel Historic Site and full contact details are available here ( and a map can be viewed here).
Entry to the exhibition is by gold coin donation, (or included in the normal the Penitentiary Chapel Historic Site entry fee).
An account of Tasmania's Aviation Heritage taken from the exhibition is available to view on-line by clicking here.
