The 2011 Tasmanian Heritage Festival

The Festival has now concluded

The Board of the National Trust Tasmania would like to thank all organisations who participated in the 2011 Tasmanian Heritage Festival. The ongoing support of the festival from organisations, individuals, volunteers and a broad range of professionals is testament to the importance we place on our heritage within our community.

The National Trust Tasmania would like to thank corporate sponsors Pure Tasmania, Cripps and at+m marketing for their much needed and appreciated contribution.

The Tasmanian Heritage Festival is also made possible due to the support of the Australian Business Arts Foundation, Tasmanian State Government and the Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities.

The festival is promoted through our much valued media partners, The Advocate, the Examiner, the Mercury and Southern Cross Television. The coverage dedicated to the festival by these organisations continues to acknowledge and encourage all participants of the festival to continue their highly valued contribution to our community.

For further information regarding the 2011 festival or for details regarding the 2012 Tasmanian Heritage Festival, please contact Matthew Smithies at the National Trust Tasmania by phone or email via our Contact Page

The Tasmanian Heritage Council is proud to have been associated with the spectacularly successful Tasmanian Heritage Festival for 2011. The National Trust fully deserves all of the plaudits that will undoubtedly be heaped on‘Lamingtons to Lasers’. Tasmania’s agricultural heritage is clearly very important to many thousands of Tasmanians as witnessed by the attendance at so many of the events that were held throughout the month. The only problem is of course, how will the National Trust make 2012 even bigger and better.”

Michael Lynch
Chair, Tasmanian Heritage Council

“The Tasmanian Heritage Festival held in May 2011 was a brilliant opportunity for people to get out and about, hear about and explore some of our islands most unique agricultural heritage places. The State Government is a major sponsor of the Heritage Festival, and sees it as a terrific opportunity for Tasmania’s local communities and our visitors to connect with our historic heritage in new ways.

The feedback we’ve received on this year’s program, with the quirky theme of ‘Lamingtons to Lasers’, has been excellent and Heritage Tasmania is very proud to be able to work with and support the National Trust to deliver the Heritage Festival each year. My heartfelt thanks and appreciation goes to all the volunteers, supporters and staff who contributed this year and made it the success it was”.

Pete Smith
Director, Heritage Tasmania

"The Lamingtons to Lasers’ theme of the Tasmanian Heritage Festival for 2011 certainly created significant interest for all the Pure Tasmania properties and experiences.

From horse trail rides at Country Club Tasmania to enjoying lamingtons on a West Coast Wilderness Railway experience at Strahan, were some examples of the synergy created from our activities which related to Our Agricultural Heritage in some way, not to mention the novel yet magnificent location of a paddock on the Landfall property to launch this years program

Pure Tasmania values the partnership that has evolved with the Tasmanian Heritage Festival and looks forward to working with this program for many years to come."
