Technical information: The lower resolution image is an 800 pixel wide 72 d.p.i. JPEG saved at under 50% quality. The original is a 300 d.p.i. TIFF saved at 100% quality. Sizes of original images vary but in most cases are considerably larger than the low resolution versions displayed here and generally speaking details are much clearer and easier to make out, though this does depend upon the condition of the original.
