Longford Photographic Collection:
Introduction
The Norfolk Plains or Longford Branch of the Trust holds a large collection of photographs relating to the history of the Norfolk Plains/Longford area and covering the period from the late 19th century to the present. Subject matter is immensely varied including street scenes, events and images of notable and ordinary persons. You can view horse-drawn vehicles, traction engines, the 1929 flood, the Tasmanian Military Contingent of 1900 and many buildings all captured in time.
The Branch continues to collect images. In order to preserve the collection all images have been digitally scanned. Over 1200 have been selected and are available for viewing here on these pages, however these versions are smaller and only of a lesser resolution and quality.
The pages containing the images together with brief descriptions may be reached by clicking on the appropriate number below.
An Excel spreadsheet listing the photos on these pages together with additional details including some dates is available for download here . (Please note that this is a portion of the Curators' working database and as such contains many unresolved references and notes.)
The public may obtain professional prints of the original high resolution images for non-commercial purposes via the pages listed above. (The Trust charges for this service).
