Reed Children Conservation Appeal
The National Trust seeks your support for the conservation of this important portrait of Frederick Hawley Reed (1854 - 1893) and Arthur Crookes Reed ( 1858 -
1930), youngest children of Henry Reed.
Damaged by water many years ago the portrait has been stabilised while the Trust seeks funds for its full conservation, and the construction of a new frame

Background
Henry Reed (1806-1990) was a prominent Tasmanian landowner, merchant,
shipowner and philanthropist. Born in Doncaster in 1806 he arrived in
Hobart in 1827 and walked to Launceston where he took a position with the
Merchant John Gleadow.
In 1831 he returned to Britain and married his cousin Suzanna Maris Grubb of "Cheltenham" in October. Soon after they returned to Launceston.
