NORFOLK PLAINS HERITAGE CENTRE with LAKE MASONIC LODGE , 1929

Gateway to the rich history of the Norfolk Plains District - Unlock the heritage and mystery of the Masonic Lodge in Longford

The Norfolk Plains Heritage Centre with Lake Masonic Lodge is located in Longford near the historic Christ Church. The Heritage Centre has an exhibition space and archival resources which draw on the significant collections of the Norfolk Plains Group of the National Trust and explore the towns, people and industries of the Norfolk Plains District

One of the more interesting exhibits, the 1930's replica Strasbourg Clock, is featured here

The Lake Masonic Lodge is a fully furnished Masonic Lodge open to the public. The furnishings have a symbolic value within the practice of freemasonry

In addition, the Heritage Centre provides access for both visitors and those undertaking research on aspects of the history of the Norfolk Plains District or the families of those who lived in the District

A brief history of the Norfolk Plains area is available here

The day to day operation of the Heritage Centre and Lodge is undertaken by the members of the Norfolk Plains Group of the National Trust supported by community volunteers many of whom have had a direct involvement with Lake Lodge

Buildings of the Northern Plains Exhibition

A photographic record of some 300 mainly domestic buildings was taken during the 70's. A reference kiosk showing these records may be used by the public at the Centre. In addition the information is now available to view online here
