Oak Lodge, 1831
Explore the history of Richmond and the Coal River Valley.
Oak Lodge is an impressive “Gentleman’s” town residence constructed between 1831 and 1842 in the village of Richmond. It has seen life as rectory, school, doctor’s surgery and family home and still has its nineteenth century garden. The Lodge now tells the story of Richmond and the surrounding area, once one of the richest agricultural regions in colonial Tasmania.
Surgery Photographic Display
Dr William Clark lived and practised as a GP in Oak Lodge for 38 years starting in 1909. A photographic tour lets you look around the three rooms which are set out as his surgery. It is available to view together with a more detailed account here
