Penghana, 1895

Penghana

An impressive house and grounds dramatically sited overlooking Queenstown. It was the home of Robert Sticht the first mine manager of the Mount Lyell Mining and Railway Company who developed the company into the largest industrial enterprise in Tasmania during the early twentieth century. Subsequently this splendid Federation style house was home to 13 more mine managers.

The grounds of the house are open. The house is now used for accommodation and a restaurant.
