Inside a 19th century brown suede cover is a treasury of original watercolours depicting Tasmanian wildflowers . There are almost one hundred detailed colour images in the folder, each protected by a thin semi-transparent sheet of tissue paper. Nothing is known about the artist or the folder except the details in the dedication pasted on the endleaf and the pokerwork title on the front cover.
Many pages show more than one flower, often they are in pairs with the foliage or colours presenting a pleasing contrast. Someone, perhaps the artist, has labeled the majority of the images, writing with pencil in a firm confident hand with arrows to denote particular plants .
